I love you a boosha lanta peck.

I love you a bushel and a peck

A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck

And so go the lyrics of the famous Guys and Dolls song. But what is a bushel? What is a peck? I’m not exactly a farmer, so I don’t know these things.

Is it a lot? I sure hope so. Because that’s what my eight-year-old son and I say to each other. Like every day. So, I looked it up.

bushel is a measure of dry volume. Like for measuring dry commodities. Like oats. Or corn. Or apples. A bushel is the equivalent of 4 pecks, or 8 gallons. One bushel equals 35.23907 liters.

So, yeah. A bushel and a peck is a lot of love. And corn.

I think a “boosha lanta peck” (the way my son says it) is even bigger though, don’t you?
