The Big Stink

When I had a baby, I wanted to kiss her cute little toesies. And when she turned three, I wiggled her toes and did the Little Piggies rhyme so she’d squeal with laughter.

This little piggy went to market.

This little piggy stayed home.

This little piggy had roast beef.

This little piggy had none.

And this little piggy cried wee wee wee, all the way home.

Tickling. Laughing. Hugging.

Fast-forward to when my daughter is 10 years old. Her feet aren’t quite as sweet smelling. In fact, when she takes off her cleats after soccer, it’s like whoa! Corn chips!

(Rewind 30 years ago and I recall how my mother witnessed the big stink and my Keds were forced to find a new home outside. P. U.!)

Just the other evening, my daughter cuddled up to me and murmured, “Mom, do the Little Piggies.” Aw, how could I resist? She’s so sweet!

But after tickling those tween corn-chip-smelling toes, this little piggy cried wee wee wee, all the way home.

Kids’ feet should come with a hazmat sign whenever they enter a room, that stuff is NASTY!!! What happened to our sweet smelling tootsies??? They’ve been replaced by stench. And attitude.

No kidding! I thought it was just my kids’ feet. Until I remembered when I was a kid!
