Running late (as always).

Trying to get my daughter to her basketball game on time. The kids shoved down sandwiches and milk.

Quick! Grab the water bottle!

“Did you remember your jersey?” I yelled to her in the backseat…being that we were already halfway there. I was hopeful.

“Yes.”

Whew.

It was Friday night, after a hard week of all of us getting back “into the swing of things” post-holidays. I was feeling. Very. Grumpy.

Then on the radio blasts K.C. and The Sunshine Band….That’s The Way I like It. Uh huh. Uh huh.

And then. My seven-year-old starts to sing along. Word for word. Booyah!

It was exactly what I needed to get me out of my grumpies. Uh huh. Uh huh. I laughed out loud.

And we got to the game. With. Three minutes to spare.

I hear you loud and clear. I am grumpy this morning not wanting to face a full week of back to reality.

Back to reality sucks!

I found what helped was really fun dance music and “scheduling in” fun activities like movie night and a day in the snow and visiting our indoor community pool. Because you have so much fun over the holidays, then blam. January.

Hang in there and plan some fun!

I absolutely LOVE it when my girls surprise me by knowing music I didn’t think they’d know. They have a WIDE and eclectic taste in music because of my husband (Southern Rock, Dead, Beatles, Stones) and myself (Police, Duran Duran, Styx, Billy Joel) so they know more music than even I think they do. We were driving the other day and Build Me Up, Buttercup came on and both my girls were belting it out and I just smiled and smiled. 🙂 Good job, mom!!

That so makes me smile! I think electic music tastes are best…good job, Mom!

Rock on! 🙂
