Scared of Spiders?

If you’re scared of spiders, it’s probably best to never go outside. Like ever.

You may have heard the saying: “You’re never more than 10 feet away from a spider.” Actually, according to the American Museum of Natural History, it’s sometimes six feet, sometimes three feet. The museum says that an acre of English meadow in late Summer has been estimated to contain more than two million spiders. And it’s safe to assume that wetlands and undisturbed forest contain significantly more.

Dude! My dad lives on an 80-acre farm. Do the math.

I’ve been out jogging in the morning. OK, it’s a rare activity, but it has happened. And I’ve seen spider webs. Like everywhere. The morning dew highlights their intricate weavings in trees. In bushes. In the grass. Everywhere. Like every six inches.

It might just be another reason not to go jogging.

I’m not scared of spiders. I mean, who doesn’t love Charlotte? I cried my eyes out.

But, if a hairy-ass tarantula were to drop on my face, like the one that freaked out Marv in Home Alone? I would scream as pathetically as he did.
